01 — The idea
A floating sauna for the lakes and shores of B.C. Built to belong to the water around it, and to give people a reason to gather outdoors through the colder months.
Cedar, glass, and salt: a sauna that looks out over the water while you're in it, a swim right in that view when you need the cold, a fire to sit by afterward, and a lounge with the whole landscape in front of you.
It's taking shape as a moored retreat, a sauna boat, or both. We've already done the groundwork on the health, marine engineering, and municipal requirements for a floating facility. We come to a site with our questions answered rather than starting from scratch.
04 — What matters to us
The water is the whole point.
From ocean coastlines to mountain lakes, we're surrounded by some of the most beautiful places to swim anywhere, and for most of the year we only look at them. A sauna turns the cold from the reason to stay on shore into the reason to get in.
Rooted wherever we land.
Every lake and shoreline here has its own character. Whether we're moored for good or visiting for a season, we'll work with each place rather than against it.

06 — Who we are
We're Vancouver-based, we're building this ourselves, and we're taking the time to get it right.
Cassidy Bast & Robert Spring · Co-founders
Salt & Sauna Ltd. was founded by Cassidy Bast and Robert Spring. Cassidy led real estate brokerage development and expansion at RE/MAX and rennie, and brings business, customer-service and community-engagement experience. Robert brings marine, farming, mechanical and IT experience and leads our technical work.
He also came to sauna the way a lot of people do: needing it. Recovering from spinal cord cancer, he found heat and cold did more for him than he expected, and he hasn't stopped since.
